Frequently asked questions

What kind of bikes do you rent?

We rent single-speed cruiser bikes in all sizes. An easy ride with no shifting required and coaster (back-pedal) brakes. Every bike can be adjusted to your height and comfort. We do not rent e-bikes, trikes, mountain bikes, etc.

Does Closing time mean the rental has to be returned at that time?

Yes. If we close at 2:00 p.m., rentals have to be back by 2:00 p.m. For example, the last 2-hour rental is available at 12:00 p.m., the last 1.5-hour rental is available at 12:30 p.m., and the last 1-hour rental is available at 1:00 p.m.

Do I need a reservation?

Reservations are encouraged, but walk-ins are always welcome. Reservations must be made 1 hour before the time you’d like to rent. You will receive an email confirmation once your reservation is secured. Reservations are held for a 10 minute grace period past the reservation time. Check out our Book Now page to easily make a reservation using Peek software.

Should I book my bike ahead of time?

Yes! As the weather gets warmer, our inventory rents out quickly. To ensure that you’ll have a bike ready and waiting for you when you get here, use the Book Now page and reserve your bike ahead of time.

How do rentals work?

Rentals are for use on the Farmington Canal Heritage Trail on the day of your rental. You can rent for 1-hour, 1.5-hours, or 2-hours directly from our location. Bikes don’t go in cars, on cars, or home with you. See “How close are you to the trail?” above!

How old do i have to be to rent?

You must have one person in your party who is 18 years old. That person will be responsible for signing the Rental Agreement and Release of Liability Waiver for themselves and any minors in the group. Waivers can be signed online after you make a reservation on our Book Now page. Kids under 18 must be riding with someone over the age of 18.

Do you have child trailers?

Yes! We have two child trailers, a one-seater and a two-seater. Our one-seater trailer can carry up to 40 pounds and our two-seater can carry up to 80 pounds. Since there is a limited supply, you must set up a reservation to guarantee the use of a child trailer. Children must be at least 2 years old to ride in the trailer. Children in trailers must wear helmets and be buckled in.

Do I have to wear a helmet?

Kids 16 and under must wear a helmet to ride according to state law. If you’re 17 or older, you can choose if you’d like to wear a helmet or not. You can bring your own or one will be provided free with your rental.

Do bikes have water bottle holders?

Yes! Bring your favorite (alcohol-free) refreshment in a standard-sized bottle and you can pop it on the bike for your ride.

Are there restrooms along the trail?

Yes! There are 6 restrooms along the trail - 3 year-round and 3 seasonal.
